Grayash Cottage is your home from home in the heart of Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth Country.

Grayash Cottage is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac a few minutes walk from the majestic Lake Windermere. Bowness-on-Windermere is the perfect location to experience the old and new traditions of this iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Although tucked away in a discrete location, Grayash Cottage is walking distance from great places to eat, shop and be merry!

Double Bedroom

A large room with bay windows and a walk-in cupboard for storage. Double bed, rocking chair and dressing table/chest of drawers.

Twin Bedroom

Perfect for guests of any age. Two single beds, drawers and reading chair.

Bathroom

Immaculate, modern bathroom with shower. Lavatory, bath/shower, basin and wall cupboard and privacy glass.

Sitting Room

A great room to unwind in or somewhere for the children to have their own space.

Lounge

Warm and welcoming with original feature fireplace, TV with Netflix and DVD player, three-seater sofa, chair and footstool. The window seat is a perfect place for teddies to relax.

Kitchen

Clean, modern with oven and hob (with overhead extractor), kettle and toaster, microwave and fridge freezer, washer, pantry and lots of storage. Door to courtyard.

Dining Room

Well-lit, cosy dining room for four just off the kitchen for easy access.

Courtyard

Lovely seating area, perfect to catch the morning air over breakfast or enjoy a glass of something relaxing in the evening. Seating with table and wood store.

Frontage

Imposing, traditional double bay windows (upstairs and down) make Grayash Cottage easy to find in this idyllic location for sightseers, tourists, adventurers and those looking to get away from it all.

You could even head to Ulverston and visit the home of comedy legend, Stan Laurel. There are regular arts ad culture festivals and a wealth of local talent on display at theatres, parks, arts centres and stately homes all through the year. Grayash Cottage is perfectly placed to give you easy access to a cinema, theatre and attractions. All within a few minutes walk from your doorstep. Your welcome pack includes interactive features to help you discover more and make your booking.

Outdoor & Adventure

You can’t come to The Lake District without sampling the exciting and awe-inspiring splendour of the mountains, lakes and other natural attractions for all ages. However you want to enjoy your day, our welcome pack will let you ‘be there before you go there’. The Lake District National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day Trips

Scheduled day trips, boat rides and other guided adventures await you at The Lake District. You can walk and join a boat ride up or down Englands largest lake, Windermere, or take the lead and explore in your car. Lots of visitor attractions and day-long opportunities are listed in your interactive Welcome Pack.

We are committed to accurately describing our facilities and services to give you the confidence to evaluate whether Grayash Cottage is suitable for your specific requirements. Level Access to Grayash Cottage
From the rear of the property, level access is available through to the courtyard. There is a small doorway ridge border to enter the kitchen and access the dining room, main lounge and sitting room/sofa bed room.
Access with Steps

The main entrance does not have level access. There are three steps plus a doorway border step to enter from the front of the cottage.

There is also step access (main staircase) to the only bathroom in the property.

Bedrooms

Upstairs bedrooms are accessible only by the main staircase.

Level Access Bedrooms

A sofa bed room / sitting room is on level access with rear entrance, dining room, kitchen and main lounge.

Hearing
  • TV has subtitle or closed caption capabilities, which can be turned on via the remote control.
  • Additional services are available subject to the individual programme makers.
Visual
  • The walls and the doors have colour contrasts (light walls and unpainted, varnished wooden doors).
  • We have information in large print.
  • The main lounge has dimmable lighting.
General
  • We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors, which we offer in large print, too.
  • There are no lifts / elevators in the property.
  • There are no winches or hoists in the property.
  • All door widths are 76.2 cm (metric) – 30 inches, or 2’6” (two feet six inches – imperial).
  • Free parking is in the street (South Terrace) or some adjoining streets.
  • Our kitchen worktops are usable when seated, but we do not have a low hob.
  • Some kitchen cupboards are standing height. Some are low level.
